Dial JonesDial is a Pro-Elite Level Instructor with the USPTA, the world’s largest association of tennis instructors. He has trained with USA Olympic coach Steve Stefanki, Nick Carter (coach for several players ranked top 20 in the world on ATP and WTA), and Pancho Segura (coach of Jimmy Connors). Dial’s former doubles partners include Steve Denton (former #1 ranked doubles player in the world) and Larry Stefanki (coach to Andy Roddick and John McEnroe). As a member of the HEAD Professional Advisory Staff, Dial keeps himself at the leading edge of tennis’s evolution as a sport and is eager to pass his perspective on to his students.

Dial began playing tennis at the age of 9 in Los Altos Hills, CA and maintained a top 10 ranking in Northern California from the ages of 14 through 18. During this time, he was invited to compete in the 16’s and 18’s Junior Nationals, the most prestigious junior tournament in the country. In his college years, he received a full scholarship to play singles for the #5 ranked NCAA Division 1 University of Texas at Austin. He then went on to score significant wins over some of the world’s top tennis pros throughout the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand before shifting his focus to teaching the game.

Hunter WoodDial has taught thousands of players from the beginner to professional levels. His students have included a dozen nationally ranked juniors, 4 nationally ranked seniors, numerous collegiate players, and over 50 California ranked juniors and adults. Over his 30 years of teaching experience, he has spent 14 years as the director for the tennis programs at the Marina City Club, the Marina del Rey Ritz Carlton, the University Club of Palo Alto, and Club Sport (formerly Amador, the largest indoor club in California). He founded Dial Jones Tennis Academy at the Ocean View courts 20 years ago and is now hoping to share his decades of experience and love of the sport with you! When asked which level of player he enjoys teaching most, he responds, “I have no favorite level; players who value learning, enjoying the game, and giving their best effort top my list!”
